Art Walk

The Art Walk showcases many of our city’s skilled local talents. Walking in between businesses, you’ll see crafts ranging from live music, painting, etching, crocheting, and more. Come on down to the Art Walk on February 9th to check out and support our local artists!

- Lauri’s vibrant, large-scale batiks focus on the symbolic themes of abundance, tranquility, and hope.

Steve Fishman - Steve’s dreamy work emphasizes the moon both as a universal sacred entity, and a symbolic expression for personal enlightenment and transformation.

Jenn Hlavaty - Paintings inspired by nature, usually recreations of landscapes or animals, mostly impressionistic but also abstract, intuitive work.
Kolby Jackson - Face painting
Savannah Jones - Acrylic and Watercolor paintings, as well as embroidered art, and upcycled sculpture.
Cheryl Knox - Handmade, customized sterling and gold filled fine jewelry, copper and brass jewelry, on-the-spot personalized/custom-fit jewelry utilizing permanent (claspless) jewelry, traditional (clasped), and magnetic connections for bracelets, anklets and necklaces.

Self-Guided Walking Tours

Historic Walking Tour

Take a walk along the West Davis and Fountain Place Historic District and take in all of the beautiful architecture this neighborhood boasts. Click on the guide to access a copy of the self-guided tour.

Public Art Walking Tour

Black Bottom District Walking Tour

 
 

Walk through the history of the Black Bottom district, a historic zone of Black-owned businesses. Information from this walking tour was compiled from research completed by the African American Cultural Arts & History Center as well as the Elon University Department of History & Geography.

Social District Sip’n’Shop

The Burlington Downtown social district allows people to take alcoholic beverages purchased from ABC permittees located inside the district into the public areas within the social district in specially marked cups. The social district is in operation on Fridays and Saturdays from 12 pm – 10 pm. The Downtown Burlington Social District encompasses a seven-block area including Front, Main, Spring, Davis, and Worth Streets. Within a Mile of Downtown

Burlington City Park

Just a short trip from downtown Burlington is the City Park. The City Park offers more than 75 acres of activities for the entire family. It serves as the home of an amusement area, one of the only three municipally operated in the state. A fully restored Dentzel Carousel is the highlight of the amusement area. As part of the National Historical Register, the carousel attracts thousands of visitors yearly.

Jiggs Askew Memorial Bark Park

The Jiggs Askew Memorial Bark Park is located off of Kitchen Street in Burlington at City Park, behind the YMCA. It sits on approximately two acres of fenced-in land with two separated areas, one for smaller and older dogs and the other for larger dogs. Nicely landscaped areas with benches are found throughout the park for dog owners as well as access to water for your canine friend.

This is a designated dog recreation area. You will encounter dogs off-leash. Users of this park do so at their own risk. The City of Burlington shall not be liable for any injury or damage caused by any dog in the park. Dog owners are legally and financially responsible for their dog's behavior. Violation of these rules can result in permanent loss of park privileges.

All first time users must register at the Burlington Recreation & Parks Department. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm.

Splash Park

Nestled near the Burlington City Park and only minutes from Downtown Burlington, the Splash Park is sure to give you a a fantastically fun summer time.

Willowbrook Arboretum

Excitement is growing as the City of Burlington and the New Leaf Society partner together to remake Willowbrook Park into Willowbrook Arboretum!
