Signal Box Art - New in Downtown

Can you find this artwork in Downtown installed in August 2025? The artist is Jolie Patten, art student at Elon University. Fun fact: there are 14 signal boxes at stop-lighted intersections in the Downtown district. Once you see the stainless steel rectangles on or near the sidewalk at intersections, you’ll never overlook them again.

These boxes Downtown might start to get much more colorful and artistic. See if you can find this first installment in a partnership with Elon University art students and Samantha DiRosa, Art Department Chair at the University.

Here’s a hint: Don’t make a Federal case out of this. Spring into action now.

Not only is downtown home to furniture designers, painters, singers, dancers, photographers,
architects, baristas, farmer, chefs, and teachers, it's also the place to get in to public art.
