Master Plan Progress
The Burlington Downtown Corporation is implementing the Master Plan endorsed by the Burlington City Council in May 2008. The plan provides a vision for transforming downtown Burlington into a thriving business, residential, retail and entertainment destination for Burlington and Alamance County. Plan Implementation focuses on four core strategies for Downtown Burlington.
- Rediscovering the opportunities: Branding
- The regional choice for entrepreneurs: The Market
- It’s all in the details: Physical Improvements
- An energized partnership: Organization
BDC Workplan, 2009-2011 (PDF)
The Burlington Downtown Corporation is moving forward with implementation, with the hiring of Anne K. Morris as the new Executive Director in July 2009. At their August 31 Board Meeting, the BDC Board of Directors approved a two-year workplan for the organization. Follow the link above to see the workplan, which is organized according to the four themes above.
A new logo has been developed and a tagline (The downtown that works.) based on the branding recommendations from the master plan has been adopted. Brand extension to the website and other marketing materials is now underway.
We are beginning the process of forming committees to address workplan priorities. We are currently forming a Design Committee and an Economic Restructuring Committee. A Promotions Committee will be forming soon. If you are interested in working with the BDC to implement the master plan recommendations, contact BDC staff, through the form at right.
Below you will find more information and details on the Master Plan recommendations.
