Alamance Walks




Healthy Alamance has created a wonderful walking program downtown. Incorporate physical activity into your life and get walking! Maps will be provided of the walking route.

Sponsored by: Alamance County Health Department, Healthy Alamance and The Burlington Downtown Corporation.

Downtown Halloween Spooktacular

Friday, October 28th


Kickoff the festivties downtown with a Costume Parade throughout downtown. There will be trick-or-treating, costume and pumpkin contests and live entertainment. This is going to be a fun event for the whole family! Come out and have a frightfully fun time!

 

 

Picnic in the Plaza

Date/Time/Location: TBD

98.7 Simon will be hosting Picnic in the Plaza as part of the kick off to the Alamance Walks program. 98.7 Simon will provide music and a hamburger, hotdog or veggie burger lunch for a dollar!

All proceeds go to Make a Wish Foundation. Join us for this afternoon of fun and giving!

Holiday Parade

Date/Time/Location: Saturday, November 19th, 10am

A Burlington tradition to kick off the holiday season. A variety of entries including floats, antique cars, bands and service groups are part of the festivities. The parade starts downtown on Front Street to Worth, to Davis to Spring to Maple to Main and ends at the YMCA.

 



 

A Dickens' Christmas

Date/Time/Location: Friday, December 9th, 6pm, Downtown Burlington

 

Experience a Downtown Burlington tradition. There will be the annual lighting of the tree as well as multiple musical performances, an appearance by everyone's favorite Christmas Goats, and even a chance to meet a special guest from the North Pole. Downtown merchants will be selling food and refreshments and the festive train will be giving rides around Downtown. This event is one not to miss.


Friday's On Front Concert Series

Date/Time/Location: The last Friday of each month from May through September

The Musical Chairs outdoor concert series is a great way to spend an evening downtown or in one of Burlington’s beautiful parks enjoying a wide variety of musical formats.  This program gives local talent around the surrounding area a chance to perform in a comfortable setting and allows spectators to enjoy a picnic if they so desire. The Musical Chairs Concert Series is a free event for all ages presented by the Burlington Recreation & Parks Department and the Alamance Arts Council. Concerts are held the last Friday of each month at 7p.m. from May through September. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be relocated to the Paramount Theater, Thataways Youth Center, or the Mayco Bigelow Community Center.
